Urgent UK passport service worldwide
UK passport name change or details change from overseas
Changed your name after marriage, divorce or deed poll? We update your UK passport from overseas in 3 weeks or less, guaranteed — no flight home, no HMPO queue. £799 all-inclusive; full refund if we miss it.
A passport cannot be amended. Any change to the name or personal details printed in it means a new passport has to be issued — which is why this is its own service rather than a renewal.
We check your evidence, manage the application through our direct HM Passport Office process, and courier your new passport back to your overseas address.
Getting married? You can apply up to three months early
You can apply in your married name up to three months before the ceremony. HM Passport Office holds the new passport and post-dates it to your wedding date.
This is worth planning around if you are honeymooning abroad, because your travel bookings and your passport need to carry the same name. Book flights in the name that will be in the passport you are actually travelling on — a mismatch between ticket and passport causes problems at check-in regardless of which name is legally yours.
If the honeymoon is soon and you have not started, start now: three weeks guaranteed plus a three-month post-dating window gives you room, but only if you use it.
Changing the gender marker in your passport
You can apply to change the gender marker in your UK passport. Current HM Passport Office guidance accepts any one of the following as evidence:
- a Gender Recognition Certificate,
- a new birth or adoption certificate showing your acquired gender, or
- a letter from your doctor or medical consultant confirming that your change of gender is likely to be permanent.
You do not need to have had surgery or hormone treatment, and you do not need a Gender Recognition Certificate if you are providing one of the other forms of evidence.
If you are using a doctor's letter and changing your name at the same time, you will generally also need evidence of the name change itself, such as a deed poll, together with evidence that you are using the new name — a payslip or a letter from a public body, for example.
Applicants under 16 apply as a child passport, and the written consent of everyone with parental responsibility is required.
This is an area where published guidance is revised from time to time, so we confirm the evidence required for your individual circumstances before anything is submitted, and we check it against current guidance at the point you apply rather than relying on what was true previously. The current published position is on GOV.UK.
The evidence we need
For most cases it is straightforward:
- Your current UK passport.
- The document that effects the change: marriage or civil partnership certificate, decree absolute or final order, or deed poll.
- A compliant digital passport photo, which we check before submission.
- Evidence bridging any earlier name changes, if your current passport is not in the name immediately preceding this change.
- An overseas address DHL Express can collect from.
Where a change was made under the law of the country you live in rather than under UK law, the evidence position can be different. Tell us and we will confirm what is needed.
If a certificate has been lost, we can help obtain a replacement. That is an additional cost outside the £799 and we always quote first.

Travel-rule warning for British citizens overseas
British citizen or dual national travelling to the UK? You may not be able to rely on a foreign passport alone. If your UK passport is expired, very old, lost, damaged or never applied for, you risk problems at check-in or boarding. ASAP can help you get your UK passport fast from overseas.
Since 25 February 2026, British and Irish citizens cannot get a UK ETA, so you are expected to prove your citizenship with a valid British passport.
“When the recent UK entry rules changed for people who have dual citizenship, weeks before we were due to travel, we knew we would be at risk of not having a British passport in time. We googled and found ASAP passports. We enquired online and within a couple of hours Jacob called us, despite it being well after business hours. He was thorough, informative and empathetic to our situation. He talked us through the options and after we decided to move forward, he supported us through the process (including finding old expired passport history, birth certificates etc). Jacob kept us updated the whole way and even after the passport was delivered he checked in to make sure all was ok. Customer service is often non existent these days even when paying a premium, but in this instance the expense was 100% worth it. Highly recommend.”
What is included
£799 all-inclusive: the ASAP service fee, HM Passport Office fees, DHL Express courier collection, secure global air freight and return delivery. Additional costs apply only where official evidence has to be obtained for you, such as a replacement marriage certificate. We always quote before spending anything.
Guaranteed services are backed by a full refund if we miss the published turnaround. The clock starts when your complete document pack and/or passport is collected from you, not when you pay.
Why British citizens overseas use ASAP
ASAP Passports is an independent UK company and a registered UK passport agent. We are not GOV.UK or HM Passport Office. Your passport is still issued by HM Passport Office. What we do is manage the UK-side process so your application never sits in the standard overseas queue.
More than 700 British citizens worldwide have used the service. We are a 5-star Google-reviewed service and an official DHL Express courier partner.
Ready when you are
Start your name or details change
Tell us what is changing and when you need to travel. We will confirm the evidence required and get the clock started.
I have changed my name. Do I actually need a new passport?
Yes. A passport cannot be amended, so a name or details change means a new passport is issued. We update your UK passport from overseas in 3 weeks or less, guaranteed, for £799 all-inclusive, whether the change is by marriage, divorce or deed poll.
Is this the same as a renewal?
No, and the distinction matters. A renewal replaces an expiring passport with the same details. A name or details change produces a new passport carrying different details, and it is its own £799 service with its own evidence requirements.
I am getting married soon. When should I apply?
You can apply in your married name up to three months before the ceremony, and HM Passport Office post-dates the passport to your wedding date. Combined with a 3-weeks-or-less guaranteed turnaround, that gives you real room before a honeymoon — but book flights in the name that will be in the passport you actually travel on.
Can I keep travelling on my old passport until the new one arrives?
Your existing passport remains valid until it is submitted, but bookings must match the passport you present. If you are travelling before the change completes, travel in your current passport name and time the application around it. Tell us your travel dates and we will sequence it.
What evidence do I need to change the gender marker in my passport?
Current HM Passport Office guidance accepts a Gender Recognition Certificate, a new birth or adoption certificate showing your acquired gender, or a letter from your doctor or medical consultant confirming the change is likely to be permanent. Surgery, hormone treatment and a GRC are not required. Where a doctor's letter is used and the name is also changing, evidence of the name change and of using the new name is generally needed too. Guidance in this area is revised from time to time, so we confirm the current requirements for your circumstances before submission.
My name changed twice — can you handle that?
Yes. What we need is an unbroken evidence chain from the name in your current passport to the name you want in the new one. Gaps in that chain are the most common cause of delay on these applications, so we check it before submission rather than after.
My name was changed under the law of the country I live in, not UK law. Does that count?
Usually, but the evidence position can differ from a UK deed poll. Tell us which country and what document you hold, and we will confirm what HM Passport Office will need.
Can you change a child's name on their passport?
Yes. It follows the child passport process, with evidence of the change plus the parental consent that child applications always require. See child UK passports.
What is included in the £799?
The ASAP service fee, HM Passport Office fees, DHL Express collection, secure air freight and return delivery to your overseas address. Extra costs arise only where official evidence has to be obtained for you, such as a replacement marriage certificate, and we always quote before spending anything.
