Your first British passport, managed from Australia
Born in Australia with a British parent or family history, but never held a UK passport? ASAP checks the evidence, handles the forms and manages the UK-side process from your Australian address.
£1,499 all-inclusive, around 4 weeks, best endeavours. Payment provider card fees are disclosed at secure checkout before you pay.
A first application has no existing British passport record. Your citizenship and identity have to be established from source documents, so the evidence chain matters more than the form. We check it before anything is submitted.
“My partner’s dad is British, we had plans to travel back to his family in the UK this March. We read about the recent changes and needed to apply for his British passport. We spoke ASAP, they helped us collect his parent’s marriage certificate and brith records. It will be a couple weeks and we’ll have his first British passport.”

What we promise on first applications
The current service estimate is around 4 weeks on a best-endeavours basis. It is not guaranteed because HM Passport Office may ask for further evidence on an application with no existing British passport record.
What we do promise: your evidence and photo will be checked before submission, your travel date will be discussed honestly before you proceed, and the UK-side process and any HM Passport Office queries will be managed for you.
If your travel date is tight, say so at the outset.
The evidence: where an Australian first application can stall
First applications are usually delayed by gaps or mismatches in the paperwork.
✓Your full birth certificate. The long-form certificate showing your parents, not a short extract.
✓Your parents' documents. Birth certificates and, where relevant, marriage certificates that connect the descent chain.
✓Name-matching evidence. Marriage certificates, deed polls or other records that bridge every spelling or name change.
✓Evidence of any name change of your own. The name on your Australian passport needs to align with the British evidence.
✓A compliant digital photo. We check it before submission.
✓An Australian collection address. DHL Express collects physical evidence where required and returns the completed passport securely.
If an official certificate is missing, ASAP can help identify and obtain replacement evidence where possible. Any additional retrieval cost is quoted before money is spent.
Applying through a British parent or grandparent
Most Australian first-passport enquiries begin with a family story: a British parent, a UK-born grandparent, or documents that have not been looked at for decades.
Citizenship by descent is not decided by one surname or birthplace alone. The relevant facts include where and when you were born, where and when your parent was born, how that parent held British citizenship, and whether names changed across the family record.
ASAP maps that evidence chain before submission. The aim is not to make an assumption quickly; it is to make the correct application with the documents HM Passport Office will expect.

Travel-rule warning for British citizens in Australia
British citizen or dual national travelling to the UK? You may not be able to rely on an Australian passport alone. If you are British but have never applied for a British passport, start early because a first application cannot be guaranteed.
If you have held a British passport before, use the Australia renewal guide rather than this first-application service.
“When the recent UK entry rules changed for people who have dual citizenship, weeks before we were due to travel, we knew we would be at risk of not having a British passport in time. We googled and found ASAP passports. We enquired online and within a couple of hours Jacob called us, despite it being well after business hours. He was thorough, informative and empathetic to our situation. He talked us through the options and after we decided to move forward, he supported us through the process (including finding old expired passport history, birth certificates etc). Jacob kept us updated the whole way and even after the passport was delivered he checked in to make sure all was ok. Customer service is often non existent these days even when paying a premium, but in this instance the expense was 100% worth it. Highly recommend.”

How long does a first adult British passport take from Australia?+
Around 4 weeks on a best-endeavours basis. It is not guaranteed because a first application has no existing British passport record and HM Passport Office may request further evidence. We will tell you honestly before you pay whether your travel date looks realistic.
Am I British if I was born in Australia to British parents?+
You may already be a British citizen by descent, but the answer depends on where and when you and your parent were born, and your parent's status at the time. ASAP checks the history and evidence rather than asking you to assume.
Can I get a British passport through a UK-born grandparent?+
A grandparent can be relevant, but it does not automatically mean that every applicant is entitled. Your parent's citizenship, birthplace and dates matter. The evidence should be reviewed before an application is submitted.
What documents will I need?+
Typically your full birth certificate showing your parents, your parents' birth and marriage certificates where relevant, evidence bridging name differences, evidence of any name change of your own, a compliant photo and an Australian collection address.
What happens if a certificate is missing?+
ASAP can help identify and obtain replacement official evidence where possible. Any additional retrieval cost is quoted before money is spent.
I have always travelled on an Australian passport. Is that a problem?+
No. Many first-time applicants are dual nationals who have used only their Australian passport. The important point is that its name and identity details align with the British source evidence.
I had a British passport years ago. Is this the right service?+
It covers the ASAP service fee, HM Passport Office fees, DHL Express collection where required, secure air freight and return delivery to your Australian address. A separate payment provider card fee is disclosed at secure checkout before you pay.
Is ASAP Passports part of the British Government?+
No. ASAP Passports is an independent UK company and registered passport agent. It is not GOV.UK or HM Passport Office. HM Passport Office remains the passport issuer; ASAP manages the evidence and application process as a paid commercial service.
